
Perspectives Lectures
The Baltimore Opera Company is pleased to offer “Perspectives” – informative and entertaining lecture presentations prior to each performance. Respected operaphiles will provide insights about the opera’s musical significance, composer’s influences, historical context, anecdotes, and much more. Designed to enhance your enjoyment of the opera, this series is presented free of charge to anyone holding a ticket to the performance. Lectures begin one hour prior to curtain at the Lyric Opera House.
LECTURE TIMES:
6:30 for 7:30 performances — Wednesdays
7:15 for 8:15 performances — Fridays and Saturdays
2:00 for 3:00 matinees — Sundays
(Late seating to the lecture only permitted during the first 10 minutes.)

Denise Gallo is a Senior Music Specialist at the Library of Congress. Prior to joining the Library staff, she was an Assistant Professor and Co-Director of the Music History Division at The Catholic University of America, where she now remains an adjunct professor. Her lectures have included programs for The Washington Opera, Washington Concert Opera, and the Phillips Collection.
John Weber on Maria Stuarda - November 10, 14, 16,

John Weber has performed in numerous Baltimore Opera Company productions. He traveled with the Washington Opera on their 2002 tour to Japan, and made his European operatic debut at the Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy.

evening drive time host Judith Krummeck majored in Drama and History of
Art at the University of Cape Town, holds a Teachers’ Licentiate from the Trinity College of London, has lectured on Drama related subjects at the Universities of Cape Town and Stellenbosch, and holds History of Music qualifications from the University of South Africa.

James Harp is Baltimore Opera Company Artistic Administrator and Chorus
Master. He holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from Peabody Conservatory
of Music and is well known in the area as a pianist, organist, singer,
composer, lecturer, director, writer and conductor.
