BE ON STAGE!

Ever want to be onstage in an opera? This is your chance! The Baltimore Opera Company Supers is a great way to become involved in the opera scene in Baltimore. A Supernumerary (Super, for short) is the operatic equivalent of a movie extra. They do everything on-stage except sing. Supers are volunteer positions but “payment” is received in being able to perform on the stage of the Lyric Opera House with some of the most renowned artists in the opera world while hearing glorious music every performance. Supers are supplied with costumes and make–up. Supers help in changing the scenery and some may have to have quick changes. They also play a variety of roles in a single opera: soldiers, bartenders, clowns, ladies in waiting, ladies of the night, sailors, executioners, judges, captains, priests, bishops, nuns and so on. And each super is given two free tickets to the final dress performance. What a way to become involved in opera!

BOC is presently seeking soldiers for Roméo et Juliette and Madama Butterfly. The first rehearsal for Roméo is Wednesday, March 12, 2008. The first rehearsal for Madama Butterfly is Wednesday, April 23, 2008. For further information please email: supers@baltimoreopera.com. Please include age-range, height and weight.
