Baltimore Concert Opera

It is Baltimore Concert Opera's great pleasure to announce a one-time only performance of "The Life and Music of Maria Callas" featuring soprano Francesca Mondanaro and narrator Fabrizio Melano on Friday May 16th, at 8pm. This special event will include a post-performance champagne and dessert reception with the artists.

This unique, up close and personal concert, will feature Ms. Mondanaro singing arias for which Maria Callas was known, coupled with never heard stories from Callas' close friend, director Fabrizio Melano. Jeffrey Miller accompanies at the piano.

Francesca Mondanaro

Francesca Mondanaro is quickly becoming a favorite of Baltimore opera-goers. She lit up the stage at The Engineers Club singing the title role in Norma earlier this season. A specialist in Verdi and heavier bel canto repertoire, she also makes her Lyric Opera of Baltimore debut this season as Abagaille in Nabucco. Ms. Mondanaro evokes memories of the legend, La Divina as if she is standing before you.

Fabrizio Melano

Fabrizio Melano is an established figure of the international opera scene, having worked with leading opera houses throughout the world for more than twenty-five years.  He began a long-standing relationship with the Metropolitan Opera in 1970 and was a close personal friend of Maria Callas.

Pianist Jeffery Miller, OperaDelaware's music director, chorus master, and principal accompanist, will accompany the program.
