Sandra:

Sorry for the very delayed reply. Unfortunately, I don't know if records exist or who to go to. You could try the Lyric offices...if they do exist, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Regards,
Michael Blair

Greetings to all opera lovers, management, friends and musicians. Is it true what I'm hearing regarding the possible return of the Baltimore Opera? Word on the street is that the Baltimore Symphony will take on two operas next year and that Baltimore Chamber Orchestra will also play for a third opera. As a former principal wind player, this is not the news I wish to hear! I, along with my wonderful Baltimore Opera Orchestra colleagues, were loyal and dedicated musicians for the Baltimore Opera. Many of us gave up sub work with Washington National Opera as well as other noted major orchestras in the area so that we could stay true to our commitment to Baltimore Opera. Say it isn't so!

Too bad, I discovered your blog a month too late. I hope they'll do auditions again soon, would be splendid to see "when American Idol meets opera." All talented people, as you described it, and none of the Simon Cowell put-downs, thank goodness.

I had the opportunity to attend the Chesapeake Concert Opera's performance of Cosi fan tutte in January. As an opera novice, I was not expecting to enjoy myself...in fact I took several Motrin before leaving the house...but the evening was fantastic! The cast was extremely talented, and their acting was amazing. The narration of the opera was really fun, and I truly enjoyed the entire experience. I would recommend that anyone who is looking for a fun, light-hearted approach to opera would enjoy spending the evening with the Chesapeake Concert Opera's superb musicians.
